I have been thinking about possible changes to the DPC for a while now. Looking at our current motivation, it seems that the DPC is fading and turning into us posting individual workouts that are not being completed by the group. Also I want to try to include more people in the DPC. This will test the theory that community creates motivation which leads to results. We may be creating a level of training that is making our workouts exclusive. Here is what has been bouncing around in my head for a while now.......
Base Cardio Fitness & The DPC
When I got to my highest level of fitness (outside of high School and early college) I had a base of cardio that I NEVER missed. This was a seven day a week commitment and time didn't matter. I used running as my base of cardio. I think if we have a few bases to choose from every week and make a seven day commitment to it, our results will multiply. Also, i think we will find more rhyme and reason to our workouts.
Possible Base Choices
running
jump rope
walking
rowing
stairs
bike
(anyone got anything else)
Choose one base for the week. You can stick with the same one for multiple weeks in a row if you want.
Then we layer in the DPC 3-5 days a week. For me it's gonna be a lot of crossfit type stuff. I am really into crossfit workouts right now and 3 days of it seem to be enough.
Motivation and Results
With the idea of getting more involvement than the three of us I was thinking that instead of us posting results of DPC's, we could have a point system for completing workouts. I know people are addicted to fantasy football and gamer style "level ups" so we could come up with a point system for base and DPC completion for the week and add em up! It gives everyone the chance to compete which gives us all motivation! Everyone can choose their own DPC or do their regular gym workout and get points for it.
Final Layer... DIET
Personally I am sick of my diet holding me back. It is a challenge every day, but I am really tired of feeling like workouts are wasted by meal choices. I will be posting all my meals on this board and would encourage you two to do the same. Don't need to add point values or anything like that, just want some accountability for my food.
Let me know what you think.
